Clash of Clans bases - TESLA PLACEMENT

Basebuilding Tips

IT CREATES AWKWARD, UNPREDICTABLE PATHING:

Let's see how we can place our teslas in order to defend our Clash of Clans base and throw off the opponent:

In this particular example, notice how the 2 teslas create more unpredictable pathing and avoid the IT (inferno tower) completely. Without those teslas, troops/slammers would path towards the IT once the air defense is down. This allows the IT to constantly harass troops, and with the sneaky GB, can even force an early heal. This reduces spell value, considering that they’ve only scratched the base’s surface. Ultimately, teslas can be used to complete the outer defensive ring.

NOTE: SINCE TESLAS ARE HIDDEN, YOU COULD ALSO PLACE TRAPS IN THEM TO ADD ANOTHER ELEMENT OF UNCERTAINTY ON THE ATTACKER’S LENS. THEY’RE BEST WHEN PAIRED WITH GBS, SKELETON TRAPS, AIR BOMBS, SPRING TRAPS, AND SAMS. ENSURE THAT YOU STILL FOLLOW EACH TRAP’S ‘RULES’ SO THAT IT’S MORE EFFECTIVE.

The anti-funnel tesla focuses on placing a tesla on the corner of a compartment to shift troops (i.e. heroes) away from the compartment. They’re best placed when in front of high-value areas that are susceptible to a sui. After all, a sui will not get much value if there’s a poor funnel. One thing I’d like to add is to not place them next to ADs. A sui typically consists of a BD + BK to establish a funnel, and the BK will likely cover the AD side and take the anti-funnel tesla down. Therefore, the BD will likely be used on the other side to compensate, away from the AD. I recommend placing high HP buildings on your Base within close proximity (e.g. storages) to slow it down, as well as any air-targeting defenses to assist in taking the BD down.

TESLA FARMS (TF): A tesla farm refers to a group of 3-5 teslas in one concentrated area. They’re much more effective if the TF is unpredictable. This example has a fake TF spot with high HP buildings (high HP improves a tesla farm as it provides more time for them to deal damage) and is meant to throw off attackers. An important point, particularly for lower THs, is to not place a tesla farm in front of air defenses/hound pathing. This allows the lava hound to soak the TF’s high DPS and the loons can take it down with relative ease. You’d want the TF to target loons, not hounds. Don’t place it in hound pathing/air defenses. It isn’t much of an issue at higher THs (i.e. TH12 & 13), as there are other air-targeting defenses, but feel free to adjust your TF away from ADs if applicable. Furthermore, tesla farms shouldn’t be placed near likely entries, as it can easily be dealt with (e.g. with a queen in a QC), and you’d want to have it in the backend instead. Tesla farms do a great job forcing extra spell investment.

As for troll teslas, where one tesla is placed on a corner of a base, isn’t that effective since they can be taken down with 1-2 loons. If you really want to implement a troll tesla, then I recommend doing it in one-hit wars, as there’s no second attacker to clean. As always, GL and happy building!
